Volkswagen Golf Blow-off Valve
Installing an aftermarket BOV on your Volkswagen Golf 1.8T will give it that unique hissing sound that all turbo enthusiasts crave.
The Type-RS represents the next evolution of the blow-off valve. In a new compact frame, this dual-spring, 40mm blow-off valve can discharge a very high capacity, with quicker response and the ultimate in blow-off sound with its new discharge funnel. If the throttle plate is closed while engine is making boost, the compressed air will return to the compressor housing which causes "compressor surge" and also damages the turbine shaft. In the same condition, the GReddy Blow-Off Valve will release the compressed air from the charge pipe to protect the turbocharger from the pressure spike and also gives quicker boost recovery. By modifying the vacuum line routing, it can also be used as a Relief Valve.

- General: Greddy Blow-Off Valve Type RS
GReddy Blow-Off Valves for Volkswagen 1.8 T are easily adjustable to eliminate compressor surge and preventing premature boost leakage, while increasing boost response between shifts. Each valve is made of durable cast and billet aluminum frame and the valve to diaphragm ratio provides performance that cheap piston types cannot offer. The spring stiffness adjustment screw and the three different sizes of blow-off valve give the GReddy user the option to match vehicles with mild upgrades to heavily tuned engines. There are many factors in matching a blow-off valve to an application, valve location, turbocharger size and pressure, but as a general rule of thumb, we recommend the Type RS blow-off valve for 100-400hp, Type R blow-off valve for 260-450hp and the Stiff Spring Type R blow-off valvefor over 400hp applications. Also available in easy to install kit form for many Volkswagen and Audi 1.8T engines.
